Michael Hurlbut earned his degree from Texas A&M University and immediately began his home building career as the controller for Daybreak Custom Homes. Although he grew up around the homebuilding industry, it was at Daybreak that he learned the details of the business. He started in accounting and finance, and quickly assumed roles in sales and construction. We could build 1800 square feet to 15000 square feet. Gene began a distinguished career working for Emerald Homes as an assistant builder, and through hard work and determination quickly worked his way up to senior builder in charge of multiple houses and communities. After leaving Emerald Homes, Gene began working for Darling Homes. Although Gene enjoyed working for these builders and won numerous awards, he felt that there were many things in the building process that needed improvement.
